In the article "Santa Cruz County 2024 elections: What we know at the filing deadline about who is running," you will find an overview of all the going on in the local election as well as other resources on how to get to know your candidates and the county and city measures.

The article's overview of the situation Scotts Valley will be walking into this election season highlights possibly exciting changes on the horizon and opportunities for new leadership in the community.

"Scotts Valley will have potentially the most competitive city council race, as seven candidates are running to fill three open seats. Two of the seats are being vacated by incumbents who have decided to retire: Mayor Randy Johnson told Lookout on Friday he is stepping down after 28 years on the city council; Councilmember Jack Dilles said 2024 would be his final of eight years on city council. Incumbent Councilmember Donna Lind is seeking reelection, and will have to finish in the top three to earn a seat in a crowded field that includes John Lewis, Krista Jett and Mercedes Molloy."
